"For the Veterans By the Veterans" (Veteran Counselors for Veterans)
The Alabama Institute for Behavioral Health and Research is a dedicated behavioral science research and clinical therapy organization that is focused on the improvement of human experience and quality of life at the individual and family systems level. The Institute studies current and new evidence-based therapeutic approaches to the treatment of mental health disorders and challenges faced by over one million people everyday.
The Behavioral Research Division of AIBHR is headed by John M. Duffey, MAcc, NCC, LPC. We offer help with a number of conditions/challenges like PTSD, Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety, Survivors of Domestic Violence, Adult survivors of child abuse/sexual abuse, survivors of sexual assault and military sexual trauma, and racially motivated/hate crime trauma. Special supportive areas of academic study and field application outside of counseling include Cultural Anthropology, Cross-Cultural Psychology, intra-/inter-racial relations, Behavioral Archaeology, Bio-Psychology, LGBTQ support counseling courses, and Neuroscience. |
VA Mental Health Disability Assessments are conducted by AIBHR
As of March 1, 2021, the Veterans Administration opened up the completion of the Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) to non-VA contracted licensed mental health professionals who are trained and experienced in assessing for mental health disability. John M. Duffey, Sr., MAC, NCC, FMHE, DMHA, ALC provides VA Disability assessment for use as NEXUS Statements and as initial assessments for submission to the VA. You can get a VA-Disability Benefits Questionnaire Form completed at AIBHR following a complete assessment. Many veterans have encountered terrible treatment and unethical behavior during assessment interviews with VA contracted individual and clinical companies. This prompted the VA to change its assessment rules. |
