BEHAVIOR and CONDUCT
The majority of administrative, support, and professional clinical staff are also veterans who utilize the Veterans Healthcare System. We understand the frustrations that can be felt while attempting to navigate a system to deny and say no more often than treat and provide access to care. However, the Alabama Institute for Behavioral Health, P.C. IS NOT THE VA. Every person here at AIBH is dedicated to helping you, the veteran and veteran family member, succeed in overcoming mental health challenges and in maintaining maximum access to care.
We render the highest level of respect to every client/patient who comes to us for help and/or guidance. It is against our moral and manners to mistreat any person and that type of behavior, often complained of by veterans regarding their treatment at VA facilities, is not tolerated and will be swiftly dealt with should it manifest in personnel here. You will always be treated with respect and dignity here. BUT, we are also aware of the fact that some veterans have developed a belief that the, "Squeaky Wheel gets the oil." In other words, many veterans come here expecting misbehavior and mistreatment of staff to get them what they want - THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS HERE. We expect every veteran to treat us with the same respect and cooperation that we render to them on a daily basis. The Noisy Wheel doesn't get the oil here - it gets sent back to the VA. While here, you are a guest and we expect you to behave like a guest - We're veterans, too. The VA does not require Community Care Network Providers to endure abuse of any kind from referred veterans.
Any threatening, destructive, disrupting, abusive, or any other behavior, inferences, or gestures that is/are perceived by staff as threatening, violent, destructive, abusive, obstructive, or disrupting will result in the removal of the veteran (voluntarily or by police assistance) from the grounds/facility, a return to VA, and the issuance of a criminal trespass warning.
DO NOT THROW CLIPBOARDS OR ANY OTHER OBJECT AT STAFF when asked to fill-out forms. IT IS REQUIRED in order to provide treatment and record interactions. Refusal to complete assessment screenings, intake or update forms, provide ID, provide insurance information, etc will be considered non-compliant in treatment and the veteran will be returned to the VA labeled as non-compliant.

YOU WILL HAVE SERVICES DENIED PERMANENTLY and be REFERRED BACK TO VA labeled as non-compliant. Non-VA Clients will be denied services and given a list of other providers they can seek continued care from. NO-SHOW & LATE FEES
It is the policy of this clinical practice to charge fees for missed appointments, also known as, "No Shows," and for late arrivals. It is very important to be punctual. It is advised that you arrive at least fifteen minutes ahead of your appointment time to complete forms and be ready when your appointment time comes up. The policy is that we must have at least 48hrs notice of not being able to make an appointment or to reschedule an appointment. This allows us to quickly assign another veteran to that time so we can reach and help as many vets as we can. So, the fees are there to encourage and reinforce polite consideration and behavior.
No show fee is $50.00 per occurrence.
Late fee is $15.00 per occurrence. - Additionally, if you are more than fifteen minutes late for an appointment an automatic reschedule is made.
NO SHOW AND LATE FEES ARE NOT COVERED BY VA-CCN or ANY OTHER INSURANCE. YOU MUST PAY THESE FEES.
